The G.B.S.C. Bicycle Racing Team has been in existence for over 70 years. We are one of the oldest bicycle racing clubs on the East Coast. The Club is always looking for new prospects. Founded in 1927 as the German Bicycle Sports Club our membership is now comprised of riders from many ethnic and racial backgrounds. We welcome anyone seriously interested in bicycle racing. The G.B.S.C. Bicycle Racing Team has a staff of many experienced riders to help novices in the sport.
Training rides are held every Saturday and Sunday from the Westbury High School parking lot in Westbury, Long Island. Rides leave promptly at 10:00 am. The average pace runs between 20mph and 23mph for 35 miles minimum. The course is hilly. If you come to this ride you are expected to know you can handle it. There is no waiting for stragglers, flats or mechanical problems. This does not mean that if you are not quite up to this pace that the club will not take the time to work with and train you, only that if you have any doubts about your ability to handle it, it is best if you call first and speak to Bill.
Directions: Take the Northern State Pkwy. to ex. 32 north. Go north on Post Ave. The school will be on your right just after Jericho Tpke. Park by the tennis courts. |
